February 2023 Update
Hey everyone, it’s a February 2023 update and I’m excited to share that I’m still here and building models, albeit at a slower pace than I’d like.
Life has been busy lately, leaving me with little time to get to the model bench. Nonetheless, I wanted to take a moment to give you all a glimpse into what’s currently on my workbench.
Italeri 1/35 Land Rover 109
I first mentioned this project back in October 2022 (see this BLOG post). Actually quite a bit of progress has been made on the kit. But I just need some bench time to get the final touches done.
These include using some oils on the canvas tilt to get some shading and highlights. Some light weathering on the body work.
Fit the wheels, including the spare with tie down straps.
Finish the figure, he is quite close to the end. Oh and build a base for the Land Rover and figure!
Once it’s complete, I’ll do the usual build blog and video.
I have to say, I’ve quite enjoyed building this kit, and have got my eye on the new Land Rovers coming from AK Interactive. Fingers crossed this one will be completed by then!
Academy 1/72 F-86F Sabre “Korean War”
Started this back in January as part of my little Korean Air War Project. This project has also stalled due to the lack of time. The actual build should not take long, as there are not many parts to the kit.
Having watched some videos on doing metallic finishes, I do plan to have a go at using a black undercoat. Will probably use a Tamiya Gloss Black. But have yet to decide if I use Tamiya or another brand for the metal finish.
Also having some pilot figures from CMK should help with any little dio I put this Sabre in.
Impulse buy – Revell Weathering Set
Was it an impulse buy? Well sort of, I was thinking about how to weather the Italeri Land Rover, and I saw these in Hobby Craft (yeah I know, not the cheapest place to buy them!).
Have yet to try them, or even read the instructions, but at least I have them when I need them.
Fingers crossed I get a bit more bench time in March. I’m hoping I do, plus as the daylight hours getting longer, I might have a bit more energy on the evenings to get some model making done!
