Airfix 1/72 MiG-17F
The Airfix 1/72 MiG-17F, or to give it it’s correct name, the Airfix 1/72 Mikoyan-Gureich MiG-17F ‘Fresco’ (Shenyang J-5). This is a kit I’ve had in my stash for a short time.
So I thought it would be good to see what we get in the box, and to do this via a video.
Kit number is A03091. Part count is 84, which is quite a bit for a small 1/72 jet fighter. The kit includes 2 decal schemes to choose from. A North Vietnamese Shenyang J-5 with a typical camouflage scheme used by the North Vietnamese Air Force. Or a natural metal finished Soviet Union MiG-17. Both will make for a very interesting ang typical Cold War subject.
On the Airfix website, they look to be re-boxing the same kit, but as PZL LIM-5. However featuring Polish and East German schemes, oh well another one to add to the stash!
For a little bit of background information about the MiG-17, you could read my article that I wrote about it here. Slightly digressing, but I think I should add some more illustrations to that page. 3 seems a little low considering the number of users of the MiG-17.
Airfix 1/72 MiG-17F – What’s in the box
The Airfix 1/72 MiG-17F does look like a very nice kit. It is certainly one I’m looking forward to building. What I do like about it, is the fact that it will be suitable for a large selection of different schemes.
